Wyo-Ben has three (3) processing facilities located in the Big Horn Basin area of Wyoming were it mines, processes, then distributes pulverized, granular and semi-crude products around the world.
Founded in 1951 by Rockwood Brown, Sr., Wyo-Ben, Inc. rose to prominence in the 1960's and Ô70's under the guidance his son, Keith Brown. Then the major consumers of this unique clay included the iron ore pelletizing companies in Minnesota and Michigan as well as service companies to oil and gas exploration. Now, a third generation company headed by Rockwood's grandson David S. Brown, Wyo-Ben has diversified its product mix and markets into a vast array of industries with specialized products. Corporate offices have always been located in Billings, Montana and include Administrative functions, Sales and Marketing, Customer Service, Accounting, and a Product Development Laboratory.
Wyo-Ben's performance in mining and safety has been recognized over the years with numerous awards including the ÒWildlife Habitat Reclamation and Stewardship AwardÓ from the Wyoming Dept. of Game and Fish, ÒExcellence in Environmental Performance in Mining OperationsÓ from the Wyoming Dept. of Environmental Quality, and three consecutive years with No Lost-Time Accidents.
New uses for Wyoming bentonite are constantly being discovered and Wyo-Ben's innovative and customer oriented employees realize that flexibility and quick response to opportunities continue to separate them from their competition.
