Production Accountant

Billings, MT

Wyo-Ben, Inc. is looking for a Production Accountant for our Greybull, Wyoming office. The main purpose and function of the Production Accountant position is to coordinate cost accounting and general accounting between mining and manufacturing operations and corporate management and accounting. The Production Accountant is also responsible for assisting corporate management and the Production Manager with production costs and analysis.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Raw materials quantity and valuation on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Estimate and report reclamation liability quarterly.
  • Oversee accounting for quantity and valuation of finished goods inventory.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to complete implementation of the bills of material module in Wyo-Ben’s ERP software.
  • Accumulate, verify, and transmit accounting/cost accounting data to production management and corporate accounting.
  • Analyze plant and field activities, production costs and develop reporting procedures and internal controls.
  • Identify and communicate critical cost issues and cost saving proposals.
  • Ensure accurate, timely recording and/or reporting of required data..
  • Provide thorough, accurate, and timely answers to, and analysis of, including what if and make/buy decisions.
  • Interact with department managers, the Production Manager, and corporate management and accounting.
  • Work under general supervision and be responsible for determining specific plans for achieving goals established in the annual evaluation process.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor degrees in Business or Accounting.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with accounting and inventory cost accounting in a manufacturing environment. Experience working in an API Specification Q1, 9th Edition environment is a plus.

Research & Development Associate

Billings, MT

Wyo-Ben, Inc. is looking for a Research & Development Associate for our Billings, Montana office. The primary function of the Research and Development Associate is to plan, coordinate, and carry out research necessary to establish existing product performance, enhance existing products, and develop new products. Successful fulfillment of the requirements for this position offers the potential for advancement.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Oversee receipt and logging in of all bentonite, chemical, waste water, grout, and other samples to be tested.
  • Oversee fulfillment and disbursement of all product sample requests coming to the Billings laboratory.
  • Oversee creation and disbursement of product performance testing reports to customers.
  • Assist Sales/Customer Service in defining (through testing) and mitigating customer product-related problems as they occur.
  • Oversee the creation and retention of reports on all product and developmental research testing conducted in the Billings lab so that all testing data is readily accessible and available for review.
  • Work with VP, Resources and Sales Department to define objectives for existing product testing and new product research and development.
  • Efficiently and safely plan, organize, and execute confirmation testing for existing products and research and development efforts for new products.
  • Create and disburse reports, as needed, to keep Sales Department and Management informed and up to date on existing product performance testing and new and existing product developmental research testing.
  • Consistently and effectively oversee all aspects of product performance testing and product developmental research in a safe, efficient and timely manner to meet the goals and objectives that have been established for each project.
  • Interact with management, Sales Department and Production Quality Control, and with other employees as required, for information gathering and analysis.
  • Interface with customers as needed to provide technical information and test data for existing products.
  • Work independently under general supervision/guidance.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Geochemistry (physical), Mineralogy or Clay Mineralogy preferred.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Two (2) or more years as a commercial research chemist or mineralogist strongly desired. Experience working in an API Specification Q1, 9th Edition environment is a plus.
